Principal’s Report

Dear Parents and students,

We have reached the completion of another educational year, and what a fulfilling year it has been. I hope you are satisfied with your 2017 academic results and goals. Year 12 results will be released on Friday 15th December. The countdown to ATARs may cause anxiety, however I have faith in our students and their abilities. I look forward to celebrating their success and wish them all the best as they are placed into their dream universities.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our valuable community members who have contributed to making 2017 very productive.

Firstly, I want to thank our parents for trusting us with their children. Your support and assistance has not only helped strengthen our school, but has also contributed to the organisation of fundraisers for those in need. I am grateful for our rapport and look forward to our continued work in 2018.

To our students, I appreciate your desire to learn, again trusting our teachings and initiatives. Your work ethic is to be congratulated and it has been a pleasure teaching you and learning with you.

My teachers are to be commended for their efforts in 2017. Teaching is so much more than walking into a class and teaching content. Like any production, behind the scenes they are making huge efforts toward our community and the wellbeing of students. I am privileged to work with such a dedicated team every day.

Thank you to our support staff. You won’t have noticed, but there have been no power outages, no unfed students, no closed toilets, no closed classrooms, and no unusable areas of the school grounds. Well done to this highly successful team.

Finally, we thank those in our community whose help is often unseen. Elected officials and local businesses help with their time, financial contributions and support. Our local Police, Fire Department and Hospital help with education and advice. I feel enormously proud of everyone and thankful for the opportunity to serve you all.

The school will be here for another hundred years. The school will serve our community, adapt to the demands of the future and educate many future generations. I am truly thankful to have the chance to be part of both the present and the future. We are already planning better use of technology, meeting new curricular demands and we are excited to get to work with next years’ senior class.

I see Sirius College as a fruiting tree and see students as its fruits. As the school continues to grow, so will our students, and so forth the fruitful cycle will continue.

Regards,
Mr. Mehmet Cicek
